2030 General Plan lacks flexibility

The Chico City Council has adopted a Land Use Map that will limit our flexibility and room to grow.

The current plans rely heavily upon using extremely challenging infill areas and will create a much higher density level than Chico has traditionally experienced.

We must keep in mind that buyers in Chico overwhelmingly prefer single family detached homes to condos or townhouses. These buyers also want homes with large yards in the low to median price ranges.

Builders have many challenges in today’s real estate market, and are not likely to invest in projects where there is no demand.

The adopted land use map cannot accomodate future housing needs, our local economy and future job growth in Chico.

Please join me, the Chico Associaiton of Realtors, the Chico Chamber of Commerece, the BCBA, and BTA and CEPCO in asking for reconsideration of the Land Use Plan.
